In-Depth Workshop for Birthworkers

This in-depth class digs into the role of language from pre-conception through postpartum. We lay a groundwork in understanding theories of language, then talk about fertility, pregnancy, birth, high-risk situations, hospital birth, language and comfort measures, the postpartum period, and PMADs.

This is NOT a course where I'll give you a list of things you should and shouldn't say to your clients.

This IS:

-An in-depth 8-hr course, full of learning about the power of language, with some nerdy intros to applied linguistics theories and their birthy application.

-A chance to reflect on language commonly used during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

-An opportunity to consider the role that words play in the varied and unique lived experiences of our clients.

-Plenty of opportunities to practice being more intentional with using words that center our clients as life-givers.

-An invitation to commit to choosing language that empowers others through their childbearing journey.
